Oscar Handlin was born in 1894 in Boston, Massachusetts. During World War I he served as a hospital corpsman with the United States Navy. Handlin attended Harvard University where he earned his BA, MA, and PhD degrees. He then taught at several institutions including the University of Minnesota, Iowa State University, and the University of New Hampshire
Handlin’s scholarly work focused on anti-Semitism, but he also published on political economy, labor economics, and the history of the American Revolution. Handlin died in 1970.
